Appelbe, professional writer Alison Appelbe is a freelance writer of travel and business-related articles. Europe—its cultures and settings—is a specialty. She also writes about her native province of British Columbia, and other Canadian and international destinations—most recently, Eastern Turkey, Jordan and Israel. Her work appears in newspapers and magazines, and online, in Canada and the U.S. She takes her own photos. Her guidebook is Secret Vancouver: The Unique Guidebook to Vancouver's Hidden Sites, Sounds & Tastes (ECW Press, Toronto, second edition, 2010). She has contributed to Fodor's Vancouver and Victoria and Time Out Vancouver. A former newspaper reporter, Alison was a winner or finalist of 10 journalism awards between 1988 and 2000. She's a member of the Society of American Travel Writers. |
